I lost my Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) permit, how do I obtain another copy?
If you need to replace your Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) permit due to name change, lost, etc., you may contact us at (800) 918-9242. or WSLCB at (360) 664-1727 or mast@liq.wa.gov. There is a $5 handling fee for replacing lost permits. Once issued, the MAST permit is yours and you may use it at a multiple location. You should provide a copy of permit to your employer and keep the original for yourself.
How often must a server be certified?
Every five years. Upon completion of the alcohol server training course, each participant will receive a numbered certificate which is valid for five years from the date of issuance.
How old do I need to be in order to obtain a server permit?
In Washington, you must be at least 18 years old to obtain a Class 13 Servers Permit. This permit allows you to take alcohol orders, carry alcohol to the customer, and pour alcohol into a customer’s glass at the customer’s table. You must be at least 21 years old to obtain a Class 12 Mixologist Permit, which allows you to perform all the duties included in the Class 13 permit, in addition to drawing alcohol from the tap and mixing drinks, managing a licensed establishment, and conducting beer and wine tastings at a grocery store.

What is a Mandatory Alcohol Server Program?
The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) certifies Alcohol Server Programs. The WSLCB does not conduct classes or issue permits. In addition to this website course, the WSLCB provides a list of certified programs that provide face-to-face training.

The Washington State liquor law requires that every person whose duties include the compounding, sale, service, or handling of liquor must have a Class 12 or Class 13 permit within sixty (60) days of initial employment. Licensees may receive a citation if they have employees working without an alcohol server permit after 60 days of employment.
